Annual Pajama Drive delivers warmth, comfort to area long-term care residents

NORTHEAST INDIANA — Residents in long-term care and assisted living facilities are feeling the comfort and compassion thanks to a yearly donation drive.

Doing the Good, an entity of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program of Northeast Indiana, recently wrapped up its 6th Annual Pajama Drive. With the community’s support, the organization was able to gather over 550 pairs of new sleepwear for area residents.

Donations were collected at various drop-off locations throughout March and April in Allen, DeKalb, LaGrange, Steuben and Wells counties.

Now, the organization is preparing to distribute the donations to facilities in the nine counties it serves, supplying residents with a warm and cozy option for essential clothing.

The drive promotes a community-wide effort that goes beyond just physical comfort, it’s about prioritizing the well-being of residents in Northeast Indiana.

Committed to advocating for residents’ rights to a life of dignity and respectful care, the program is proud to coordinate and host the drive each year.

Northeast Indiana’s organization is part of a broader network of ombudsman programs in the United States ensuring aging residents have access to quality care and services.

Ombudsman, Swedish for “citizen representative,” investigate and resolve complaints made by residents or individuals on behalf of nursing home residents.
