Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program to Host Free Summer Symposium
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program will host its annual Summer Symposium on Thursday, Aug. 13th, bringing together healthcare professionals, long-term care providers, advocates, caregivers and community members for a morning of education and discussion focused on improving the lives of long-term care residents.
The free event will take place from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Parkview Mirro Center, 10622 Parkview Plaza Drive, Fort Wayne. Breakfast and lunch are included with registration.
The symposium will feature expert speakers and a panel discussion addressing issues impacting residents of nursing homes and residential care facilities, while exploring opportunities to strengthen resident rights, quality care and person-centered services across the region.
"As our population continues to age, it is more important than ever that we work together to ensure residents living in long-term care facilities are treated with dignity, respect and compassion," said Zanzy Lewis, executive director of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. "The Summer Symposium creates an opportunity for professionals and advocates to learn from one another, share ideas and strengthen our collective commitment to resident well-being."
The event is designed for long-term care administrators, nurses, social workers, activity professionals, caregivers, healthcare providers, advocates and anyone interested in supporting older adults and individuals receiving long-term care services.
The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program advocates for residents of nursing homes and licensed residential care facilities by investigating concerns, resolving complaints, educating residents and families, and promoting quality care. Ombudsman services are provided free of charge and confidentially.
Attendees will gain valuable insights into current issues affecting long-term care residents while connecting with professionals and organizations dedicated to improving quality of life and care outcomes.
