Flock & Roll Duckpin Bowling Bash to Support Advocacy
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The community is invited to gather a flock and hit the lanes for a good cause for the Flock & Roll: Duckpin Bowling Bash on Wednesday, Sept. 9th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Pearl, 249 Pearl St., Fort Wayne.
Hosted by the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program of Northeast Indiana, the fundraiser will bring together friends, families, coworkers and community supporters for an evening of duckpin bowling while raising funds to support resident advocacy efforts across northeast Indiana.
Teams of six can register for $400. Registration includes event T-shirts for those who register in advance, bowling, and access to the evening’s activities.
The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program serves as an advocate for individuals living in nursing homes, assisted living communities and other long-term care facilities. Ombudsmen work to protect residents' rights, investigate concerns, resolve complaints and ensure residents have a voice in decisions affecting their quality of life. The organization serves residents throughout nine counties in northeast Indiana.
"Residents in long-term care facilities deserve dignity, respect and a strong advocate in their corner," said Zanzy Lewis, executive director. "Events like Flock & Roll help make that advocacy possible while giving our community a fun and memorable way to get involved. Every team that participates helps us continue providing free and confidential services to residents and their families."
Last year’s event was won by the FW Station 1 Firefighters who took home the trophy with the most points after 20 frames.
“This event isn't about being the best bowler in town," Lewis said. "It's about gathering your flock, enjoying a fun evening together and supporting residents who deserve a strong voice and advocate. Duckpin bowling is something almost anyone can jump into and enjoy, which makes it the perfect community fundraiser."
Businesses, civic groups, families and groups of friends are encouraged to form teams and participate. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
